National Championships 2022

The long-awaited return to Stone Sailing Club is set to take place on the 10th - 12th June 2022 after COVID put a stop to the 2020 event.

With attendance reaching an all-time high for the class at the 2021 Nationals of 75 boats the fleet is expected to continue its momentum. Hartley Boats, Richard Hartley, promised a new class boat if we can reach 100 entries at the 2022 event. So, now is the time to grab yourself a boat and get entered for what is sure to be another record-breaking National Championships.

Stone has hosted many large and spectacular events in its history, including most recently the 76 boat Phantom Nationals. So large events are nothing new to this excellent club.

Entry -   Entry will include a free polo shirt (courtesy of Hartley Boats and the Old Salt Loft) for the first 50 entries. After the first 50, polo's can be purchased separately. 

Early bird tickets are available up until the 30th of April for £80. Thereafter entry is £100. 

More event specific details such as racing and evening socials are to be confirmed.

Social – Stone Sailing Club has two excellent bars. One upstairs with a view over the estuary and one downstairs which serves the large outdoor undercover marquee area.

Friday - Happy Hour! Commodores reception (one free drink and nibbles), BBQ night. 

Saturday - Happy hour! Live music and curry night. 

Food – Stone Sailing Club runs its own catering. There is hot and cold food served morning, noon and evening.

Friday Evening BBQ - 2 Sausages, Burger, piece of chicken, green salad, coleslaw and jacket potatoes. There will be a vegetarian option as well.  The cost of the BBQ will be £14 per person.

Saturday Curry - choice of a main of either Beef Madras/Chicken Korma/Vegetarian Curry with Rice and a Naan Bread.  £11 per person.

Venue - Situated on the south bank of the River Blackwater where the river is some 2km wide at high tide and the open sea is only a few miles away to the east, Stone Sailing Club provides great sailing at any state of the tide. Not only is the racing water great but the Dengie (the area around Stone) has its own weather sub-system - resulting in more good weather (with prevailing winds from the south-west), than most other areas in the country.

Arrival - On arrival, you will be directed to a boat drop off point and car park. The car park is opposite the club and less than a minute walk to the beach where the boats will be stored during the event. More details on how to get to Stone Sailing Club can be found here.

Accommodation – Camping is recommended when sailing from Stone Sailing Club. The club offers free camping to all competitors as well as free campervan parking in the club carpark. (Electric and water hook up not available).
