Blaze 671 For Sale. Price reduced to £2000 ono
She is a White Formula built mk2 'Blaze X' and comes with an aluminium alloy M7 Mast, Carbon boom and racks, New tramps, toe straps, slot gasket and centreboard last season. Good over and under covers. All control lines good and all controls work well. West Mersea combi launching trolly and road base with all good tyres and bearings. New fixed rack tubes and all powder coated 18 months ago. A choice of either a Hyde Blaze sail in good club racing condition or well used class legal North Blaze sail.
If you are looking you probably already know that the Blaze is a fast and exhilarating boat but it still manages (IMO) to be very stable and forgiving. At it’s best on open water the Blaze likes to stretch its legs on windy reaches but I race on a smallish inland lake and, having tried a couple of other classes I wouldn’t sail anything else now. 671 is a good looking Blaze with a white hull and deck with blue waterline stripe, white powder coated racks, white painted carbon rack tubes and boom and blue tramps. She goes well enough to get a mid fleet club sailor like me into 51st out of 69 boats at my first nationals. (TBF it’s been downhill ever since but that’s more likely me than the boat and I finished every race at the sometimes windy Warsash Nationals last year).
Blaze 671 has been sailed and raced regularly since I rescued her from a boat park in 2017 and she is a sound, well sorted boat which only needs a good clean and a few minor gelcoat repairs to make her look great again. She’s not completely dry (how many 22 year old boats are?), she accumulates a pint or so of water after a few hours sailing but has no major leaks or damage. I’ve spent a fair bit of time and effort to make her control systems work smoothly (bimbling is half the fun isn’t it?) and raced her at the last three Nationals with no breakages or problems. I’m sure 671 will make someone a great introduction to this fantastic class and I’m not deserting the Blaze fleet but selling 671 because I’ve just bought Blaze 838.
