The setup advice articles on the tips and maintenance page of the website are all very old, some appear to be referring to the original fully battened sail (references to tapered battens!). Trying to piece together a working setup from snippets of information picked up in the dinghy park and on Facebook is difficult and most/all the info is for the M7 mast, the carbon mast needs a significantly different setup I believe. Here is what I have gleaned so far :-
Mastfoot to forestay 1045-1065
Rake 7100-7000
Rig Tension none-90kg
Traveller hight 16"/200mm
Traveller width 36-37"/900-930mm
Spreader length 305mm
Speader deflection 110mm I'm particularly interested in the goto settings for the carbon mast and a bit of insight into how the various adjustments affect the boat for different sailor weight and windstrengths.
The setting are a precise of the various settings guides I've found on a quick search combined with those I noted when I first got 671 a few years ago (mostly from the same sources). I'm sure they all refer to the M7, hence my request for more info on the carbon rig. I'd post my settings but probably only as something to avoid, I'm very much a bottom 1/3rd of the fleet sailor these days. I'd be happy to collate individual sailors settings into a table to allow new Blaze owners to find a usable starting point. Maybe add height/weight and type of sailing water info to the numbers above and M7/Carbon and reply to this thread?
What would be useful would be general advice relating to what to adjust if you are slow downwind (or slow upwind), will increasing or decreasing rake be beneficial for example.
I agree Sam, the tuning guide needs a bit of an update! Are the settings you have posted for an Ali rig or Carbon?
